I've been using the 45's and 25's for a few weeks. Just got my 10's 5's and 2.5's yesterday to complete the set. When I first looked at them online, they seemed equivalent to the cheap cast iron non-machined plates that you could theoretically get for a bit over $1/lb before Covid, but as Strength Co developed the product, it was apparent that they are really more equivalent to machined plates that you used to be able to buy from the other companies before COVID for $2-3/lb. This makes them a good value, especially considering that nobody else seems to be shipping plates. Glad they took the time to upgrade to the e-coat finish. I accidentally dropped two of my 45's from about 5 feet onto a concrete floor the first day, and they didn't even chip. Thanks to Grant and his crew for developing a great product! under difficult circumstances!
"That's one small step for manufacturing, one giant leap for American made!!" I am now the proud owner of a complete set of The Strength Co Olympic barbell plates, woo-hoo! :-) Thank you Grant for being the leader that you are and thank you to your entire team also (including Calhoun, of course) for making this happen! And, kudos for all that you, your team, and your other coaches are doing in helping people improve their lives one rep, one set, and one workout at a time. So many people are stronger, healthier, and more fit due to your brilliant decision to take immediate action knowing you had no choice. All because deadlifting wasn't optional and the world had run out of barbell equipment! That is so awesome. Yours is the perfect example of entrepreneurial spirit, resilience and ingenuity of American business at it's best!! God Bless America!! Take it from someone who's been strength training for over 50 years that these are some of the finest plates you'll ever train with!! And, I can wholeheartedly reassure all of you Iron Warriors reading this review that they are indestructible, will last for generations, and be the only plates you will ever need to buy!! I absolutely love the old school iron feel and simple elegance of their overall function, design and appearance also!! You will too! So, if you're a serious lifter looking to power through your training, annihilate your previous workout poundage, and set new PRs on a regular basis then these phenomenal plates are a must have addition to your strength training arsenal!! In other words, buy a ton of these made in the USA "Bad Boys" today and start getting a lot stronger tomorrow!! You'll be so glad you did! One more important point. It's imperative to your success that you take good care of your barbell equipment and to develop a reverence for it as well!! In doing so your equipment will go a long way in taking very good care of you in return!! That, coupled with your dogged determination to get stronger (and even stronger still) and you'll be well on your way towards achieving a highly respectable amount of functional muscle and MIGHT, most definitely!!
Just received the last part of my order. In total, have set of 45s, four 25s, 4 10s, and set of 5s. Already had set of old 45s and 10s (diff. brand) and have to say its like night and day when it comes to quality and look. Yes, “weights are weights” but they have to be able to last and Strength Co clearly put in the time & effort to have these plates come out as top quality. The Captain is handling the punishment and I’m working to get back to pre-COVID level so might be ordering another set of 45s soon. Awesome work Strength Co.!
So far, I have bought a bunch of equipment and plates from this company. At this time, I am satisfied with everything I have received! These plates are top of the line! Tight fitting, easy to grip and handle, an just look bad a#%! Sure there on the pricey side, but worth ever penny for the lifetime I’ll have with them!
